Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ben) "You will learn your place, young one . "
It was Qui-Gon's dying wish that Obi-Wan should train Anakin Skywalker. Yoda had already argued that the nine-year old was already too old to begin training, but reluctantly gave his consent. Ten years later, Obi-Wan is a fully fledged Jedi Knight, and the stresses of training the argumentative and reckless Anakin have made him wise and cynical beyond his years. When he is assigned to find those responsible for the attempts on Amidala's life, the cautious Obi-Wan employs a degree of lateral thinking alongside his Jedi skills. When the technological resources of the Jedi Archives library fail him, Obi-Wan instead relies on his instincts and visits his old friend Dexter Jettster.
Obi-Wan ingeniously conducts his investigation of the facilities on Kamino without arousing the suspicion of the cloners, but Jango Fett soon recognises him as a threat. Obi-Wan has to prove himself in close combat with Jango, and later as a pilot in a space confrontation between his starfighter and Jango's Slave I .
Unlike his Padawan, Obi-Wan never loses sight of his duties and obligations to the Jedi order. His respect for Yoda, Mace Windu, and other members of the Council is heartfelt.
Obi-Wan will spend much of his old age in retreat among the sand-dunes of Tatooine. With Anakin's estranged son, Luke Skywalker, he embarks on a journey that leads him to his final confrontation with his former Padawan.
Mace Windu "This party's over"
Although he is a senior member of the Jedi Council, little in Mace Windu's experience has prepared him for the looming threats of the dark side of the Force and Count Dooku's Separatists. Mace Windu's faith in the Jedi Council to protect the Republic is admirable, but it also blinds him to the true scale of the growing menace. Windu believes in the Jedi as keepers of the peace - not as soldiers - but there comes a point when he reluctantly realises it is time to take affairs out of diplomacy. He takes all the Jedi he can muster to Geonosis, where he engages the sinister Count Dooku and bounty hunter Jango Fett. Mace Windu's strengths are, in many ways, qualities shared by the Jedi order as a whole - he is an accomplished diplomat and a fine swordsman. Such skills have served the Jedi well in their role as the galaxy's peacekeepers for a thousand generations. But such skills are not enough to save the Jedi from their own complacency, and the tumultuous changes that threaten to wipe them out forever.
